I cut my numbers in half

I had a follow up appointment today with my doctor to go over my latest A1C test. An A1C test gives you a picture of your average blood glucose control for the past 2 to 3 months. The results give you a good idea of how well your diabetes treatment plan is working. So lets review my numbers:

August 2007 - My A1C level was 11.9

November 2007 - My A1C is now 6.7

I dropped 5.2 points in 3 months. This was done primarily with dieting, eating better and exercise. I am on Janumet to help me as well. My doctor was super pleased with my progress. It definitely makes me so proud of my progress and shows me that I CAN change my life. I go back in 3 more months and she would like to see my numbers drop to 6.2. Personally I’d like it to be within normal ranges (4.8-5.9). I can do that.

That is fabulous. Keep up the great work. I hope that I will evetually be able to say that I have met my goal weight and that I can keep it off and fight back the heart disease that runs in my family.
