Diet doesn’t mean starvation

Dieting doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself. It doesn’t mean you can’t eat the foods you love. With the Weight Watchers plan I’m on, I can eat whatever I want. Seriously. As long as I stay within my daily points…(Flex Plan). I have had a few people this week ask me what a typical day of eating is like for me. So I’m going to share with you.

When I first started my diet 10 weeks ago, I ate about 6 times a day. That seems like alot I know, but in order to boost my metabolism I had to. I have tried many diets in the past and this was something that each one of them talked about. I know it’s a pain to do, but I’m fortunate enough that I can pack the foods I need and have easy access to them all day while at work. Some of you may not have that luxury, but you can improvise by taking a cooler or something. Anyway, here’s the example of a day of dieting for me:

Breakfast:
1 cup plain cheerios
1 cup fat free milk (skim)
1 banana
OR
Weight Smart Oatmeal (any flavor)

Morning snack: (about 2 hours after breakfast)
Protein of some kind. Turkey breast, 3 oz of tuna, protein bar, protein shake etc.

Lunch:
Smart Ones frozen dinner, fruit (grapes, apples or strawberries), light and fit yogurt

Snack: (about 2-3 hours after lunch)
Protein again

Dinner:
Chicken breast, steamed veggies, 1/2 cup rice or potatoes or baked beans

This of course varies but mostly evenings it’s a piece of meat and lots of veggies.

I probably followed this for about 2-3 weeks until my body got used to the change in eating habits. Of course you can substitute what you like, but this is what I typically ate. I have since cut out my mid morning snack because I am not hungry.

Of course one of the biggest things to remember is you have to drink TONS of water. I typically drink 80-100 oz of water a day. It does help flush out your system, makes your skin look and feel better and helps keep you full. I used to drink diet pepsi which is still ok because it is diet, but not very good at replenishing your body with water.

Good luck to you if you are beginning your journey or if you are thinking of starting. I know it’s hard, but remember that you can do it…1 pound at a time.
